Islands and Area Progression
Prepare for new islands in How to Fish by completing quests, defeating bosses and carrying the right resources.
The official description links quest completion and boss fights to progression into new islands with more dangerous creatures and better gear.
Use an island departure checklist
- Turn in local quests and read the resulting objective.
- Confirm the boss or gate condition has actually been completed.
- Sell ordinary surplus while protecting rare variants and quest items.
- Buy the equipment that addresses the next known threat.
- Save and regroup before crossing in co-op.
Documenting an island responsibly
A useful island entry should include its verified name, arrival condition, visible landmarks, available quests, observed fish, equipment access, boss connection and safe return method. Each detail should be tied to a screenshot or repeatable observation. Until those details are collected, a short honest record is better than a fabricated map.
If the next island remains locked
Recheck unfinished quests, nearby interactable characters and the most recent boss objective. Confirm that the whole crew has completed required interactions. If nothing changes, reload from a safe save and consult current patch notes or the Steam Community hub for a known issue before repeating purchases.
