Controls and Input Setup
Verified controller support and a practical input setup checklist for How to Fish on Windows PC.
Steam lists full controller support plus DualShock and DualSense support. The store also lists custom volume controls and save-anytime functionality.
Do a two-minute input check
- Connect the controller before launching the game.
- Confirm Steam recognizes it under controller settings.
- Open the game and test camera movement, interaction, pause and one fishing action in a safe area.
- If prompts look wrong, test Steam Input both enabled and disabled for that title.
- Change one sensitivity setting at a time and record the comfortable value.
Keyboard and mouse versus controller
The official listing confirms controller support but does not publish a complete default binding chart on the store page. Use the in-game controls menu as the source of truth for the installed version. Mouse input may make aiming adjustments easier for some players, while an analog stick can make gradual movement feel more natural. Neither is universally best in a physics-based game.
When inputs appear delayed or inconsistent
Close overlays, disconnect duplicate controllers, and test at a stable frame rate. A physics interaction can feel like an input problem when performance is stuttering. If only one device misbehaves, remove custom community layouts temporarily and return to the official default before rebuilding your preferred mapping.
Accessibility-minded setup
Reduce sensitivity if small motions produce large camera swings, lower nonessential volume so feedback is easier to hear, and remap frequently used actions to buttons that do not require uncomfortable combinations. If an expected option such as inverted Y-axis is not present in your current build, report the exact version and device through the developer’s official community channel rather than assuming an older discussion still applies.
